On Monday, September 15th, the first annual Global Out of Office Day
(G.O.O.D.) was held in Central Park near the Sheep Meadow. 600
employees of Sheraton took the day to work in the park via Wi-Fi
provided by Wi-Fi Salon.
We employed 4 antennas from Altai Technologies and a fixed wireless link from Rainbow Broadband in support of the G.O.O.D. event.
The event was part of a global promotion of Link@Sheraton, a new amenity being rolled out to Sheraton hotels around the world which allows people to stay connected to work, home and friends, and which features a computer-based picture and video postcard service.
The Associated Press link for the event is here. Crains New York Business carries it here.
In terms of event/public Wi-Fi, nothing of this scale has ever been before attempted in New York, at the very least.
